The LinkedIn Headline Formula That Gets You Found
Transcript
Your LinkedIn headline is the most heavily weighted field in LinkedIn's search index, and it's the one most people waste. Here's the formula that makes you findable.
Your headline is two hundred and twenty characters, and optimized headlines get three times more recruiter views.
The formula: target job title, plus a key skill or specialty, plus an industry or result. "Senior Product Manager, SaaS, B2B Growth" tells the algorithm exactly what you do.
What doesn't work: "Helping companies build products people love." Beautiful, and completely unsearchable.
Here's why it matters. Recruiters review twenty to forty profiles in a seven-minute session. Your headline is what they see in the results before deciding whether to click. On mobile, which is fifty-seven to seventy percent of LinkedIn traffic, it's virtually all that's visible before scrolling.
So write your headline for the search bar, not the boardroom.
