I Reviewed 100 LinkedIn Profiles: What's Broken
Transcript
I reviewed a hundred LinkedIn profiles from job seekers who said they weren't getting recruiter outreach. The same problems showed up over and over, and every one of them is fixable.
Most had generic headlines. "Passionate professional seeking new opportunities" tells LinkedIn's search algorithm nothing. Recruiters search for job titles and skills, and if those aren't in your headline, you don't appear.
Most had fewer than five skills listed. Profiles with five or more are twenty-seven times more likely to be found in recruiter searches. You get fifty slots. Most people use ten.
Almost none had optimized their About section. The first three hundred characters are what shows in search previews. Most people bury their value proposition three paragraphs deep, below the fold where nobody scrolls.
Your profile is competing against three hundred and ten million others. Treat it like a search result, not a resume.
