You are in control of your data and security on JobIntel. In this video, we will walk through how to change your password, set up passkeys for biometric sign-in, enable two-factor authentication, verify your email, export a copy of your data, delete your account, and what happens if you decide to come back after requesting deletion.
Open Settings from the sidebar and click the Security tab. Here you can change your password. Enter your current password, then type a new one and confirm it. Your new password must be at least eight characters long and should not be a commonly used password. After changing your password, all other sessions are automatically signed out for your protection.
Below the password card, you'll see the Passkeys section. Passkeys let you sign in with your fingerprint, face recognition, or device PIN - no password needed. Click Add a passkey and your browser will prompt you to create one using your device's built-in security. Give it a name like "MacBook Pro" or "iPhone" so you can tell your passkeys apart. You can register multiple passkeys for different devices. To sign in with a passkey, just click "Sign in with passkey" on the login page. You can rename or remove passkeys here at any time.
For extra security, you can enable two-factor authentication. Click Enable MFA and scan the QR code with an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy. Enter the six-digit code to confirm. You'll also receive a set of backup codes - save these somewhere safe, like a password manager. Each backup code works once, in case you lose access to your authenticator app. When 2FA is enabled, after entering your password you'll be asked for a code from your authenticator app. If you sign in with a passkey instead, the 2FA step is skipped - passkeys already provide strong two-factor security.
While your email is unverified, JobIntel shows a banner across the top of the app asking you to verify your email address. Click Resend verification email to get a new verification email, then click the link in that email. Verifying your email ensures you receive all important notifications, like support ticket updates and password reset requests. You can use JobIntel without verifying, but we recommend it.
Also on the Profile tab, you will see an Email Address card showing your current login email. If you originally signed up with a work email and later leave that company, you can change to a personal email without losing any of your data. Click Change Email, enter your new email address and your current password to confirm your identity, then click Send Verification Email. A verification link is sent to your new address. Click it to complete the change. A security alert is also sent to your old email address. After confirming, you will be signed out and need to log in with your new email. Your jobs, skills, applications, and all other data stay exactly where they are. Your email forwarding address for job ingestion also stays the same.
Now click the Preferences tab. Scroll down to find the Your Data section. Here you will see two options: Export My Data and Delete My Data. These tools put you in full control of your information.
Click Export My Data to request a complete download of everything JobIntel stores about you. This includes your profile, skills, saved job listings, application history, notes, support tickets, and feedback. The export is packaged as a ZIP file containing CSV files, one for each data category. You can request an export once every twenty-four hours. The status updates automatically on the page, and when your export is ready, a Download ZIP button appears right in the UI.
If you want to permanently delete your account and all associated data, click Delete My Data. This opens a two-step confirmation. First, you will see a warning explaining what will happen. Then you must type the word DELETE in capital letters to confirm. This extra step prevents accidental deletion. Once confirmed, your account enters a seven-day grace period before the data is permanently erased.
After requesting deletion, you have seven days to change your mind. During this grace period, you can log in and cancel the deletion request from your settings page. If you have an active subscription, it will be cancelled automatically when you request deletion. After the seven-day period, your data is permanently anonymized and cannot be recovered.
If you try to register with the same email address during the grace period, JobIntel will show a dialog explaining that a deletion request is pending. You will have two choices: cancel and keep your old data, or continue with re-registration. If you continue, the pending deletion is cancelled, your old data is permanently erased, and a brand-new account is created. This means you start fresh with no previous jobs, skills, or application history.
Once the grace period expires and your data has been erased, you can register again with the same email at any time. Since the old account is fully anonymized, the registration process works just like creating a new account for the first time. None of your previous data is accessible.
Your data belongs to you. Visit the Preferences tab in Settings to export or manage your account at any time.
